A Sabah police source has confirmed that former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman will arrive in Kota Kinabalu around 12.30pm today.

“Yes, yes, it is true. He (Musa) is expected to return (to Sabah) today.

“From the information that we have received, he departed at around 10am and is expected to arrive at 12.30pm or 12.40pm,” the source, a high ranking police officer, told Malaysiakini when contacted.

It is not clear which airport the Sungai Sibuga assemblyperson took off from.

Having missed his swearing-in ceremony after the general election, Musa risks losing his seat if he does not take his oath by Sept 11.

According to the New Straits Times, Sabah Umno members have been informed of Musa’s return and will be welcoming him at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport.

“I have been informed that Musa will be coming home...

“Having heard the news, I will be happy to go the airport to welcome him home with my other friends and supporters,” Putatan Umno member Shahelmy Yahya told the daily.

The source also told Malaysiakini that Sabah police will not be taking any additional statements from Musa.

“His statement was already taken when he was at the hospital,” the source added.

Police are investigating Musa for allegedly intimidating Sabah governor Juhar Mahiruddin in relation to his swearing-in ceremony, which he denied.

The former Sabah chief minister had left the country shortly after BN lost the 14th general election.

His former aide clarified that Musa had not run away but was seeking medical treatment in London following a heart bypass surgery.

Musa returned to Malaysia on Aug 21 and was warded at a private hospital in Subang Jaya, Selangor.

Police arrested him two days after he arrived but subsequently freed him on bail.
