PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim will take a strict stand against the two PKR members who were remanded by the MACC this morning for suspected money politics in the upcoming party elections.

"If it is proven, I will have no sympathy. I will table a motion to fire them as members.

"That is my strict opinion. We have to avoid all this kind of support based on money and promises of positions," Anwar said during a youth dialogue in Kuala Lumpur today.

The MACC secured a six-day remand this morning against the two men, which will expire this Friday.

The two suspects were arrested on suspicion of soliciting bribes in relation to a PKR branch-level election in Kedah.

A source told Malaysiakini earlier today that the two men had asked for an RM20,000 bribe from an aspiring contender in the election to keep him in the race.

The MACC seized RM10,000 from both suspects after they were arrested.

The investigation is being conducted under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009, which pertains to the corrupt soliciting or receiving of gratification as inducement or reward for any matter of transaction.

During the youth dialogue, Anwar was also asked about his vision and policies when he assumes the mantle of prime minister. 

"My vision as prime minister? Leave it be first. Dr Mahathir Mohamad has only been prime minister for four months. Give him a chance to govern well, we support him.

"Pakatan Harapan policies are Mahathir's policies are Anwar's policies.

"I want the Harapan government to be strong and well-respected... and now it is Mahathir's turn (to govern) and I support him 100 percent," he said.
