UMNO AGM | Umno Puteri delegates took a collective pledge today at the end of the wing's annual general assembly, swearing that they would not betray the party as long as they lived.

Led by the wing's chief Zahida Zarik Khan, the delegates read out the pledge after putting on black headbands on which the theme of this year's meeting was written.

"We pledge to continue to be loyal to Umno as long as we are alive, we will remain steadfast and will not take a step back.

"We will not betray Umno," Zahida read out loudly.

The wing's former chief and Masjid Tanah MP Mas Ermieyati Samsudin had been among six parliamentarians who quit the party after it lost federal power in the 14th general election.

Earlier this month, two former Umno ministers Mustapa Mohamad and Anifah Aman had quit the party.

Prior to this, Bukit Gantang MP Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal, Bagan Serai MP Noor Azmi Ghazali and Sukau state assemblyperson Saddi Abdul had also left the party.
