UMNO AGM | A Wanita Umno member turned heads at the Umno annual general assembly today with an orange T-shirt resembling MACC's lockup attire. 

Masurana Samian, 56, said she wore the shirt produced by Umno-linked NGO Pemantau Malaysia Baru to send a message to authorities to investigate former Tabung Haji chairperson Azeez Abdul Rahim fairly.

"We will fight for the truth. I'm directing this message to all, including the MACC, to not abuse their powers. Don't practise preferential treatment," she said.

Azeez and his brother were detained by the MACC last week to aid the MACC's investigation into the appointment of Tabung Haji contractors.

According to Masurana, she managed to buy the last T-shirt sold at a booth in the Putra World Trade Centre, where the assembly is being held.

"This was the last piece. Someone offered to buy it from me for RM100, but I rejected the offer," she said.

Masurana, who hails from Sri Gading, said that she came to Kuala Lumpur to show her support for Umno, along with 38 members from the Batu Pahat division. 

The front of the RM20 T-shirt reads "SRPM lock up – I am more willing to wear this shirt than abandon my struggle," with "SRPM" being a play on SPRM, the Bahasa Malaysia acronym for MACC.

"Let the body be imprisoned, but the soul is liberated” is printed on the back.

Pemantau Malaysia Baru president Lokman Noor Adam had on Friday unveiled the T-shirt design on Instagram, and urged his members to wear it each time they gather to show solidarity for Umno leaders who are "unfairly" punished by the government.

Among others, he referred to Azeez's arrest and detention by the MACC.
