The High Court in Kuala Lumpur has today fixed Oct 31 to hear an application by former premier Najib Abdul Razak to transfer his hearing from the Sessions Court to the High Court.

This hearing is for the 25 counts of money laundering and abuse of power he was charged with last month.

The date was fixed by deputy registrar Raja Shahril Anuar Raja Baniamin, where lawyer Wan Aizuddin Wan Mohammed appeared for Najib.

The hearing on Oct 31 will be before Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali.

It was previously reported that Najib's lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah wants the money-laundering charges to be heard at the High Court.

On Sept 28, the former premier had claimed trial to 25 charges linked to the 1MDB and RM2.6 billion donation issue.

Twenty-one of the charges were brought by the police under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATF).

The remaining four were brought by the MACC for abuse of power.

Yesterday, Najib, who was charged for the fourth time, and former Treasury department secretary-general Irwan Serigar Abdullah were jointly charged with criminal breach of trust of RM6.6 billion government funds.

To date, 38 charges have been levelled on the former prime minister.
