Ngoo Teck Keong, the wild card in the MCA presidential race, has promised that the party will fully co-operate with the authorities in in the 1MDB probe if he is elected.

Ngoo said he would provide the MACC with all documents regarding the 2013 election funds the party received from former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.

“I will provide all the MCA letters and documents which are linked to Najib to the MACC. This includes the MCA's capital flow report too.

"MCA leaders who are involved in the previous government, including the former presidents, must be investigated by the authorities to prove their innocence," he added.

The 30-year-old said fellow MCA presidential candidates Wee Ka Siong and Gan Ping Sieu must also be held accountable.

"They both were ministers during Najib's time. No matter when their appointments were, they were engaged with the former prime minister," he said.

Ngoo said this while unveiling his manifesto for the party polls at Wisma MCA this afternoon.

When asked whether he would return the elections funds received from Najib, Ngoo said that this would be up to the authorities.

For the 2013 general election, then BN chairperson Najib had distributed a total of RM470 million to coalition parties for that year's general election. Of that sum, RM16.5 million went to MCA.

Former MCA president Chua Soi Lek had admitted that the party received the money, but said there was no reason to question Najib at the time.

Meanwhile, Ngoo, who described himself as an antibiotic to cure MCA, said he would also issue a public apology to the Chinese community for the party's lack of courage in addressing national issues when BN was in power.

"To leave or stay in BN, that's not the question to be asked first. I think that we should apologise to the people, for never being brave enough to admit our wrongdoings," he said.

He also indicated that MCA may adopt a friendlier stance to Pakatan Harapan under his leadership.

“As long as Harapan's manifesto benefits the people, we will show our support.

"I have to state that, this is mainly to support good policies, we are not forming an alliance or joining Harapan," he said.
