Yoursay: ‘We didn’t vote for BN 2.0, led by Umno 2.0’

YOURSAY | ‘Defectors should show their sincerity by quitting Umno and staying independent.’

Harapan council to discuss 'Umno crossovers' issue

Hope: The deadline for any Umno member to cross over to Bersatu was about six months ago - on May 9. It has long passed.

The fact that Umno members have stayed on past that date, and are now planning to switch, shows that they are just opportunists, going with the tide. In fact, we have a name for people like that - a frog.

Pakatan Harapan, don’t say you must only accept those without baggage, because they all have baggage.

This is a new Malaysia. Let's bring in new young blood, with forward-minded thinking. Why do you want all the deadwood, most still with ancient warlord mentality, to your party?

The Harapan ship has long sailed. Let's not make a U-turn and head back to the old Umno ways. The only way to a better tomorrow is moving forward.

Fairplay: It is not only Umno members (whom we should reject).

All BN members - MCA, MIC, Gerakan, PPP, etc, who continued to give loyalty to former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak after he was identified as MO1 (Malaysian Official 1) following the US Department of Justice’s expose of the 1MDB scandal, should be treated as guilty of dishonesty and lacking integrity.

Sinan Belawan: Umno MPs, or any other MPs who plan to jump ship, must resign as representatives from their constituencies. They can seek re-election when by-elections are held.

TigerTerry: Indeed, instead of accepting the Umno defectors, I think the defectors should show their sincerity by quitting Umno and staying independent at the moment.

Do a proper job and prove your worth, then maybe join Harapan in the next election. I believe this would be a better option and would also appease the rakyat.

Wira: Six months ago, Harapan leaders convinced Malaysian voters that those Umno leaders were crooks. Yet today, you want to receive them into your party.

Come on. What if the thieves had won on May 9? Would you join them too?

Can Malaysia Truly Change: The danger of Umno members polluting Pakatan is very real.

How efficient can Harapan be in whetting the frogs leaping into this noble party? They cannot even conduct a proper election in PKR despite all kinds of assurances.

There lies the danger.

William Wallace: Harapan is turning Malaysian democracy into a joke. Why have elections? Why vote against a party only to have it join the winning side?

This is a real breach of the rakyat’s trust.

Shibboleth: Dear Bersatu and PKR leaders, be very discerning as to who you select from Umno to join your party.

The first group of Umno leaders are those who are tainted with scandals like 1MDB or those giving sweetheart contracts to their nominees.

The second group are those who are rude, proud and stupid (‘bodoh’ dan ‘sombong’) – in particular, that MP who called women "leaky" or the one who challenged billionaire Robert Kuok to a fist fight.

These two groups cannot be considered at all. Only the third group can be considered - the "Tok Pa" types who are clean and humble.

Kim Quek: This is the time for the collective leadership of Harapan to put its foot down on the mass influx of Umno MPs to convulse the coalition.

Either we do it now or the floodgate will be opened that will result in the mutation of the coalition into BN 2.0, dominated by Umno 2.0.

And that will be the grandest betrayal of Malaysians who have given such overwhelming support to Harapan to save the nation from the disastrous rule of Umno/BN.

Perakian: There are no more reasons to keep supporting Harapan as they are getting in more and more Umno people.

It’s going to be the same thing; what’s the point of having Umno 2.0 as part of the new government?

Anonymous_1527685386: Please, Harapan, we did not vote for BN or any of its component parties because they have very different and self-serving ideology that we rakyat had rejected.

Now you want to sleep with them by saying they have repented? Repented or ‘insaf’ in six months after being in bed with all these corrupted and gangster-like ousted leaders for 60 years?

Umno rep on Mustapa – gem turns out to be glass

Rakyatians: Silica (glass) is one of the most precious elements in today's electronics world. It is more precious than pink diamonds.

Silica helps many people in the world, whereas the pink diamond only serves one master.

Mosquitobrain: PKR (50 MPs) has the most lawmakers in the Harapan coalition, followed by DAP (42), Bersatu (14) and Amanah (11).

Bersatu is ambitious to increase its numbers to rival PKR. The only option available is to accept 'frogs' from Umno.

This 'backdoor' recruiting of 'frogs' is a cause for concern for Harapan supporters and among its coalition partners. It defeated the people’s hope and wish to rid of the corrupted Umno-led government.

Moreover, Harapan is not in a 'hung' Parliament scenario. To put it bluntly, who needs 'frogs'?
