Former Goldman Sachs banker Ng Chong Hwa (above) who is linked to the 1MDB scandal is expected to be extradited to the US to face 1MDB charges.

Malay Mail Online reported that federal Commercial Crimes Investigations Department (CCID) director Commissioner Amar Singh as saying that the extradition process is ongoing today.

“A warrant of arrest was issued and we picked him up yesterday. The process is ongoing now and he will be sent back once everything is cleared,” said Amar, as reported by Malay Mail.

In a statement released yesterday, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) said that it had indicted fugitive businessperson Low Taek Jho (Jho Low), former Goldman Sachs banker Tim Leissner, and Ng, also known as Roger Ng, on multiple criminal charges related to the 1MDB scandal.

Ng had worked for Goldman Sachs in Southeast Asia.

According to the statement, the three-count criminal indictment at a federal court in New York pertains to Low and Ng conspiring to launder billions of dollars embezzled from 1MDB and conspiring to violate the FCPA by paying bribes to various Malaysian and Abu Dhabi officials.
