DAP Youth lodges report over PAS and Umno's racially charged campaign
DAP Youth today lodged a police report over what it claims was racially and religiously charged campaign by Umno and PAS in the Cameron Highlands by-election.
Specifically, DAP Youth chief Howard Lee is upset at a joint ceramah by Umno and PAS in Kampung Keledek last night, where they branded DAP as anti-Malay and anti-Islam.
DAP Youth today lodged a police report over what it claims was racially and religiously charged campaign by Umno and PAS in the Cameron Highlands by-election.
Specifically, DAP Youth chief Howard Lee is upset at a joint ceramah by Umno and PAS in Kampung Keledek last night, where they branded DAP as anti-Malay and anti-Islam.
"They also claimed that DAP wants to abolish the royal institution - this is a serious accusation and slander which goes against Article 499 of the Penal Code," he told journalists after lodging the police report at the Brinchang police station.
The police report named PAS Youth chief Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi as the one who made the statements.
Also present was Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh, who is also the deputy minister in the prime minister's department in charge of Islamic affairs.
"The ceramah yesterday involving PAS and Umno speakers played the racial and religious card.
"They called on Malay Muslims to vote for the Muslim candidate but they do not reflect the conduct of a Muslim," she said.
She stressed that Pakatan Harapan, including DAP, upholds the federal constitution.
