Once a bitter foe of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Umno advisory council chairperson Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah is praying that his old rival will remain in good health.

"I am not being snide. People are praying that he stays healthy.

"If anything were to happen to Mahathir right now, the country will be in chaos," Tengku Razaleigh said during an informal dialogue session with Semenyih voters in Bukit Mahkota 2 last night.

He said there would also be a tumult if Mahathir is forced to step down.

"With what's going on in PKR, what is being faced by Pakatan Harapan (with) DAP holding all the important ministries, imagine what would happen.

"With all these important (institutions) controlled (by DAP), we would be facing a big problem," Tengku Razaleigh said.

Previously, PAS leaders had pushed claims that there would be a no-confidence move against Mahathir.

Harapan leaders have dismissed this, while Mahathir said he does not need PAS' support to stay in power.

In Mahathir's cabinet, DAP - which is Harapan's second biggest party - has six ministers, compared with seven from PKR and five each from Bersatu and Amanah.
