PARLIAMENT | Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng today tabled a bill for an RM19.63 billion supplementary budget in the Dewan Rakyat to top up last year's budget from the BN administration.
The government is requesting additional funds of RM15,485,384,142 to supplement Budget 2018's development expenditure and RM4,133,360,760 in operational expenditure.
The initial development allocation in Budget 2018, which was tabled by former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, was RM46 billion.
Harapan had previously stressed it is not in favour of tabling a supplementary budget for its own Budget 2019.
In terms of development expenditure under the supplementary bill, the Treasury will receive the lion's share of the additional allocation with RM9.2 billion, followed by the Works Ministry with RM1.97 billion.
On the other hand, some ministries are asking for additional allocations as low as RM10, such as the Defence Ministry, Youth and Sports Ministry, and the Federal Territories Ministry.
Lim told Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Mohd Rashid Hasnon that he intends for the second reading of the Supplementary Supply (2018) Bill 2019 to take place within this sitting.
Last year in August, a supplementary bill was passed to re-allocate funding due to the restructuring of ministries after Pakatan Harapan took over the government.
