Port Dickson MP Anwar Ibrahim has suggested that the hotels play a role in educating foreign tourists on hygiene and culture differences following the recent viral post of a woman tourist defecating at a Port Dickson beach.

"There have been some complaints in Port Dickson (regarding the incident) but I think we need to get hotels to give some sort of education on hygiene and culture," he told reporters at Sunway University in Selangor today.

Anwar stressed such a programme should be aimed at tourists from all countries,

"For all tourists […] I don't think we should confine it to any particular country," he said.

A photo showing a woman, believed to be a tourist from China, defecating along a PD beach had gone viral on social media and irked netizens.

It has been reported that the Port Dickson Municipal Council is investigating the incident.
