An independent record label has released a song in response to the onslaught of news reports on atrocities occurring around the world.
Smileyriver Online, which has been in the business for the past three years, said such reports will eventually cause us to "lose our faith in humanity and worry for the future of our children."
As such, the latest single from Zim Ezuan, “Children of Tomorrow,” brings a message of care, peace and love, according to Smileyriver Online's Syalina Ahmad.
"In a world of hatred and war, this song represents strength and unity," she told Malaysiakini recently.
“Children of Tomorrow” was produced in collaboration with Humanitarian Care Malaysia Bhd (MyCARE) and the Sri Aria Elementary School, and co-written by Syalina, Zim Ezuan, and Nocturnal Voice, with the official video directed by Pedro Palma.
“This song focuses on the happiness that every child in the world deserves, regardless of race, gender, ethnic origin or religion," Syalina said.
"Imagine if all children around the world are taught not to hate each other, surely the world will be a better place to live in the future."
Zimy Rozan, one half of Zim Ezuan, said that "Children of Tomorrow" is an avenue for us to reach out to the children and youth of tomorrow to not repeat the mistakes of our past.
"They must learn to see beyond skin colour, creed and background, as God created everyone equal.
"My hope for this song is that it will promote kindness to whoever it reaches. Kindness is the only way that peace will prevail in this planet," he said.
Jim Ezuan, meanwhile, said that to him, "Children of Tomorrow" represents a future where people of all colours and religions live together in peace and harmony.
"I wanted to do the song so that we could get our message across to the people of the world, to work together towards a sustainable future for our children.
"Through our music, we hope to unite as many souls out there to stand as one."
