A police report has been filed against a Twitter account which has accused PKR president Anwar Ibrahim of masterminding the sex videos implicating his deputy, Azmin Ali.

Federal Territories PKR Youth chief Na'im Brundage said the tweets from the acount 'PecatFaekah' were first detected on June 12, soon after the scandal erupted.

He also provided several examples, where one tweet claimed Anwar, who had been charged with committing sodomy twice in the past two decades, is using the same tactic employed against him in the past.

Anwar has always maintained that the charges were fabricated – the first by Dr Mahathir Mohamad during his first tenure as prime minister in 1998 and the second by former premier Najib Abdul Razak.

Following the last general election, Anwar was granted a royal pardon after serving three out of his five-year prison term.

Meanwhile, the tweets also claimed that Anwar was upset with Azmin's loyalty towards Mahathir as well as the latter appointing Latheefa Koya as the MACC chairperson.

Latheefa, who has since resigned from PKR, is perceived to be aligned to Azmin and is known for her critical views of Anwar's decisions in the past.

“Anwar is slighted. He has started a war. We accept. Lawan (fight),” reads one of the tweets.

In a media statement this afternoon, Na'im said he had also named several individuals, whom he believed to be behind the Twitter account, in his police report.

“The reason for filing the report is to urge for an immediate investigation into the operators of the Twitter account who have spread slander and made vile accusations against Anwar.

“The investigation must be done to expose those behind the conspiracy to soil Anwar's name and cause a rift among the PKR leadership,” he added.

Azmin, who is also the economic affairs minister, has described the sex videos as a nefarious plot to ruin his political career. He is also convinced that it is an internal job.

Anwar has repeatedly denied involvement in the scandal, which is currently under police investigation.
