Former PKR Santubong Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz can appeal his sacking from PKR.
However, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said, the matter lay in the hands of the party's disciplinary board.
“Yes there is a process, so let him appeal," Anwar told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
“A member who has been expelled can appeal, but it should be directed to the disciplinary board and not to me."
Haziq said yesterday that he would be appealing his expulsion from the party last Wednesday.
The PKR disciplinary board found him to have violated the party's ethics code, including openly accusing deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali of corrupt practices “without evidence.”
However, Haziq denied accusing Azmin of corruption, and said he only asked the MACC to investigate such allegations.
Meanwhile, when questioned at Parliament today, Azmin told reporters he had nothing to do with Haziq’s appeal.
“I have no idea… This has nothing to do with me.”
Prior to being given the boot from his party, Haziq (photo) was sacked as the senior private secretary to Deputy Primary Industries Ministry Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.
His troubles began after he confessed to being one of two men caught on video engaging in sexual acts, clips of which were mysteriously released to the press or uploaded online over the last month.
Haziq claimed his partner in the video was Azmin, and called for the economic affairs minister to be investigated for corruption.
The first clip released came accompanied with supposed bank documents alleging a fund transfer of over US$741,000 (RM3.07 million) from UEM Group to a Deutsche Bank account linked to Azmin in 2017, prior to him joining the government.
Azmin has denied all allegations, deeming them a malicious plot to derail his political career.
The MACC later cleared the minister over the UEM transfer allegation.
The authenticity of the video clips has yet to be ascertained.
