'Foolish' for exco to blame graft claim on 'conspiracy' - Perak PKR chief

“I think that is a foolish statement from Yunus. It is strange that he responds to the accusation by claiming conspiracy,” he told Malaysiakini when contacted.
Farhash said there was no need to give excuses, and if he is innocent, the police investigation will show as such.
Yesterday, Yunus' former special officer Beh Yong Kean lodged a police report against him, alleging that the exco in charge of public facilities, infrastructure, agriculture and farming, had instructed him to solicit commission from two companies.
Beh also alleged that Yunus leaked documents protected under the Official Secrets Act 1972 to him for this purpose.
However, Yunus denied the allegation and made a counter-claim that Beh owned an illegal factory that was facing enforcement action.
Yunus (below) also claimed that the allegation against him was also due to his association with PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, who is facing his own allegation over a sex video, which the latter has denied involvement.
“I’m convinced that this despicable allegation was made to assassinate my political career and it began with the PKR party elections last year due to my strong stance in supporting PKR deputy president Azmin Ali.
“This evil conspiracy is now being continued to topple me as Perak exco member and sabotage the Perak menteri besar’s leadership,” Yunus, who is also the Kuala Kurau assemblyperson, had said.
He had since lodged his own police report over the accusations against him.
Farhash said the latest development should not be linked to the bitterly fought party election that concluded in November last year.
“He should respond to the allegation instead of claiming conspiracy,” he added.
Amid a souring of ties between Azmin and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, the latter have been blamed for a number of allegations levelled against Azmin and his allies, including the latest episode involving Yunus.
However, Farhash, who is also Anwar's political secretary, dismissed this.
“It has nothing to do with the PKR president. This is between the exco and his former aide as well as his division deputy.
“I view this matter seriously if any PKR members in Perak, particularly the leadership is involved in corruption, I ask that the police investigate.
“There is no need for excuses. If no wrongdoing has been committed then let the police prove it,” he said.
