Modified 18 Jul 2019, 3:08 pm

An aide to National Unity and Social Wellbeing Minister P Waythamoorthy (photo) lodged a police report after a fake Facebook account was set up in his name and used to post racist remarks.

A source in the minister's office told Malaysiakini that the fake account holder was using his full name of Waytha Moorthy Ponnusamy and pictures of the minister.

The account then made racially-charged comments targeting the Malay community and political parties like Umno and PAS.

The source said his office had lodged a police report in Presint 7, Putrajaya this afternoon. The account was taken down soon after only to resurface.

Waythamoorthy intends to contact the Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador over the matter which has the potential to be inflammatory.
