Over a million households across seven districts in the Klang Valley have been hit by an unscheduled water supply disruption today, Syabas announced this evening.

In a statement released to the media at 5pm, the water concessionaire said the disruption followed the shutdown of three water treatment plants due to pollution detected at the raw water source at Sungai Selangor.

The disruption affects a total of 1,133 areas in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Kuala Langat, Syabas said.

"Syabas, a member of Air Selangor Group, would like to inform the affected areas of the Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plant (SSP1, SSP2 and SSP3 WTP) shutdown due to odour pollution at the Sungai Selangor raw water source.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and every effort is being undertaken to minimise the impact of interruption to affected customers," said the statement.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd customer relationship and communication department head Abdul Raof Ahmad said consumers were advised to refer to Air Selangor mobile app and website for further information.
