Dr M: I'm not alone and Harapan not falling apart

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today that Pakatan Harapan will not rot and fall apart, as Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had predicted.

Mahathir also denied Zahid's claim that he was "alone" because PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang were actively strategising against his leadership. 

"You can see whether I am walking alone or not," he told reporters after launching the 2019 World Tourism Conference in Kuala Lumpur.

"I am walking everywhere, and everywhere I go people come to shake hands and to express their support."

Mahathir also stressed that Harapan stands together, even when making critical decisions.

"Even in the party, you can see that this cabinet has stayed together and has been able to make decisions on critical issues," he said.

Yesterday, Zahid likened the alleged internal fighting within Harapan to a "political gangrene" that would eventually break apart the ruling coalition.

This came after Harapan allies, particularly DAP leaders, appeared to disagree with the cabinet decision on the controversial Lynas and the introduction of Jawi into the school syllabus.

Mahathir had planned to change the portfolio of several ministers, but he has denied there will be a cabinet reshuffle.
