Bukit Gantang MP denies joining PKR

Bukit Gantang MP Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal has denied claims that he has joined PKR.
Syed Abu Hussin (above) told Malaysiakini that he had never even applied to join PKR and stressed that he was still an independent MP.
"You ask them to state when did I ever apply to join them," he said.
Earlier today, Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak issued a statement announcing Syed Abu Husin's entry into the party.
He said PKR's central leadership council had decided to admit Syed Abu Husin after observing him over a period of time.
"With his experience, I am confident he can help the Pakatan Harapan government and be of value to Perak PKR.
"PKR now has 51 MPs and we hope that members at all levels will support our president as the eighth prime minister in the future," Farhash had said.
However, the party's secretary-general's office later denied this.
"The PKR secretary-general's office confirms that neither the party or the central leadership council issued any statement on Bukit Gantang MP's position in PKR," it said in a statement.
Syed Abu Hussin was among the earliest MPs to leave Umno following the general election last May. In all, Umno has lost 17 MPs over the past year.
Currently, there is only one other independent member of Parliament left in the form of Kimanis MP Anifah Aman.
In 2010, Syed Abu Hussin was targetted by then Permatang Pauh MP and current PKR president Anwar Ibrahim's in the Dewan Rakyat.
Anwar had accused Syed Abu Hussin of winning catering contracts for the military worth RM600 million without a tender being called.
