Having sat out of the recently concluded Amanah party elections, Senator Husam Musa (above) has been retained as one of two appointed vice-presidents for the 2019-2022 term.

According to sources, Seri Serdang assemblyperson Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud was named to fill the second post of appointed vice-president.

Siti Mariah (below) received a standing ovation from delegates at the Amanah National convention last weekend, after she spoke out against "heightening patriarchy" in the party and called for its male leaders to recognise efforts by women.

The former Amanah Women wing's chief replaced Tampin MP Hasan Bahrom, who failed to make the list of Top 27 central committee members elected by delegates at the Amanah convention last weekend.

Meanwhile, Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad was retained as Amanah's communications director.

"Changes have also been done for the secretary-general's post, now held by Deputy Entrepreneur Development Minister Mohd Hatta Ramli, who replaced Deputy Works Minister Anuar Tahir.

"Meanwhile, the election director position is now held by Perak Amanah chief Asmuni Awi (below)," an Amanah source told Malaysiakini last night, following a meeting held at the party's headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

When contacted, Hatta said a formal announcement on the matter would be made by Khalid as the communications director.

Amanah has maintained a status quo for the top five positions, with Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu returned as president, while Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Salahuddin Ayub will remain as deputy president.

Aside from Husam and Siti Mariah, the three other vice-presidents chosen from among elected leaders are Deputy Human Resources Minister Mahfuz Omar, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mujahid Yusof Rawa and Hulu Langat MP Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus.
