Interim prime minister and Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad is expected to meet all parliamentarians from his party tomorrow.

Sources told Malaysiakini the meeting will be held at Yayasan Al Bukhary in Kuala Lumpur at 10am.

"Tun has asked all Bersatu MPs to meet him tomorrow," said the source.

It is believed that Mahathir will discuss the party's candidate for the premiership and the formation of a new government.

Bersatu has a total of 26 parliamentarians out of 222.

While Mahathir obtained the support from GPS, Warisan, former PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and Co and his party as the next premier, it is not enough for him to command the majority of support in the Dewan Rakyat.

This is particularly so after BN and PAS retracted their support for Mahathir.

Meanwhile, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin has been mooted by his supporters to be the next premier.

In a press conference earlier today, Mahathir said Bersatu might field Muhyiddin as the party's candidate to be the next prime minister.

Mahathir also pointed out that the party had not discussed whether they would nominate both Muhyiddin and him for the top post.

In a televised addressed on Feb 26, Mahathir explained that he was compelled to resign as premier as he could not accept Umno to be part of the government.

He also said he would return if he had the support of the majority.

A special Dewal Rakyat sitting will be called on March 2 to decide the new government.
