Association of Banks channels RM10m to Mercy Malaysia for Covid-19 aid
CORONAVIRUS | Eleven commercial banks have channelled donations amounting to RM10 million to support government efforts against the threat of Covid-19.
The Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) said it will be working together with Mercy Malaysia to channel the funds from its members.

The Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) said it will be working together with Mercy Malaysia to channel the funds from its members.
"Member banks are cognisant that there needs to be adequate medical supplies and equipment during such times of emergency.
"It (adequate supply) is paramount when providing critical and life-saving measures to those affected by Covid-19," said ABM in a statement today.
The eleven commercial banks each donated amounts ranging from RM50,000 to RM2.5 million for the purchase of medical equipment and other urgent necessities.
Together with Mercy, ABM said the funds will be channelled for critical preparedness, readiness and response support actions for the Health Ministry and the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC); operational supplies support and logistics; at-risk community’s livelihood support and logistics; mental health and psychosocial support; and epidemics/pandemics risk reduction.
Among member banks involved include Maybank, Hong Leong Bank, Public Bank and HSBC Malaysia.
