MOH mandated Covid-19 testing at private facilities to be covered by insurance, takaful
CORONAVIRUS | The insurance and takaful industry will be providing a special RM8 million fund to bear Covid-19 screenings for policyholders.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said the fund would support the Health Ministry's efforts to have more screenings for Covid-19.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said the fund would support the Health Ministry's efforts to have more screenings for Covid-19.
Each screening costs up to RM300 for each policyholder, as well as medical takaful certificate holders, who are instructed by the ministry to undergo screenings at the private hospital or private lab.
On top of that, the insurance and takaful companies will be offering a moratorium on the payment of insurance premium or contribution for three months for those whose salaries are affected because of Covid-19 outbreak, Muhyiddin said.
Meanwhile, to strengthen the capability of the Health Ministry, Muhyiddin announced an additional allocation of RM1 billion on top of RM500 million which was previously announced.
The allocation is for the purchase of equipment and services to contain Covid-19, including engaging the services of medical experts from private health bodies.
