Perak Land and Mines Office (PTG) director Rumaizi Baharin has been appointed as the new Ipoh mayor effective April 1.

Rumaizi, 45, replaces acting mayor Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, who had been appointed as the state secretary since December last year.

Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu said Rumaizi had vast experience in matters related to the state administration and was the youngest individual appointed as PTG director.

He said with his experience and skills, Rumaizi would help boost the quality of services and development of the Ipoh City Council.

“Helming the Ipoh City Council will be a new challenge for him, nevertheless, with the cooperation from the council staff he will be able to fulfil his role as mayor,” he said in a statement here today.

Rumaizi, an Ipoh native, holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Universiti Utara Malaysia and also a Masters in land administration and management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. - Bernama
