Harapan and PN competing for show of unity and 8 news from yesterday

KINI ROUNDUP | Here are key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

1. Pakatan Harapan, together with Warisan and the Bersatu faction aligned to Dr Mahathir Mohamad, issued a joint statement criticising the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government's reversal on institutional reforms in a show unity after losing power.

2. And, in a similar show of unity, PN component parties announced their support to formalise the PN coalition.

3. However, the split in Bersatu persisted, with its Youth wing questioning why the memorandum to formalise PN as a coalition was silent on election arrangements for the next general election.

4. Mahathir suffered a blow in the fight against Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin with his son Mukhriz Mahathir resigning as the Kedah menteri besar after losing majority support in the State Legislative Assembly.

5. PAS' Jeneri assemblyperson Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor was sworn in as the new Kedah menteri besar.

6. Attorney-general Idrus Harun maintained that the decision to grant Riza Abdul Aziz a discharge not amounting to acquittal over money laundering charges related to 1MDB funds was based on an agreement "in principle" by his predecessor.
