Majority of top Bersatu leaders say 'clear decision' was made to leave Harapan
A majority of top Bersatu leaders today reiterated their support for the Perikatan Nasional coalition, stressing that a decision had been made for the party to exit Pakatan Harapan and form a new political alliance.
"We would like to stress that the Bersatu supreme council at its meeting on Feb 23 had decided for Bersatu to leave Harapan and form a new political alliance with other parties outside of Harapan.

"We would like to stress that the Bersatu supreme council at its meeting on Feb 23 had decided for Bersatu to leave Harapan and form a new political alliance with other parties outside of Harapan.
"This decision is clear and indisputable," said the 27 leaders aligned to party president and Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin in a joint statement today.
Their joint statement was issued in the wake of Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad's insistence yesterday that the party remained as part of Harapan until a decision is made by the supreme council.
"We also fully support the formation of PN as a coalition of political parties with the aim and intention as contained in the memorandum of understanding.
"For the people's welfare and for the stability of the country's politics, we agree for Bersatu to join PN," they further said.
The list of Bersatu leaders included its top office-bearers, supreme council members as well as state chiefs.
Among names on the list are deputy president Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman, vice-president and Selangor chief Abdul Rashid Asari, as well as all Bersatu leaders who were appointed to the new PN cabinet including its women's wing chief Rina Harun, secretary-general Hamzah Zainuddin and information chief Radzi Jidin.
Names notably absent, however, were Bersatu leaders aligned to party chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad including supreme council members Kadir Jasin, Tariq Ismail, Maszlee Malik and youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
