Lawsuit against previous Harapan govt over PTPTN withdrawn
Five National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) borrowers have withdrawn their lawsuit against the previous Pakatan Harapan administration last month.

Five National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) borrowers have withdrawn their lawsuit against the previous Pakatan Harapan administration last month.
The five plaintiffs filed the suit last Oct 22 against Harapan and two others over alleged unfulfilled 14th General Election promises linked to the deferment of PTPTN loan repayments for borrowers earning less than RM4,000 a month.
Aside from Harapan, the two other defendants were PTPTN and the government.
However on March 30 this year, Malaysiakini reported that the five plaintiffs intended to withdraw the legal action, following the emergence of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration.
The PN government was formed following a series of meetings between several key political factions on Feb 23, with a major meeting at the Sheraton Hotel in Petaling Jaya on that day, leading political observers to dub the event as the Sheraton Move.
Speaking to Malaysiakini this afternoon, the plaintiffs’ counsel Adnan Seman confirmed that the suit was withdrawn last month.
“(It is) Confirmed that (the suit) has been withdrawn against the three defendants.
“(The suit) Was withdrawn in June,” Adnan said.
According to cause papers sighted by Malaysiakini, legal firm Messrs Adnan Sharida and Associates filed Notices of Discontinuance against all three defendants on June 4.
The law firm represented the five plaintiffs - Andry Putra Haris, 29, Farah Athirah Kamarozaman, 28, Mohamad Asrol Md Jailani, 27, Mohamad Muzakkir Mohamad Ali, 27, and Mohammad Aswad Sobri, 35.
Filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court registry, the Notices of Discontinuance stated that the five plaintiffs have stopped the legal action against the three defendants, with freedom (kebebasan) to file the suit afresh, and with no order to cost.
The five plaintiffs claimed that the three defendants were contractually bound to deliver the promises in the manifesto - such as the ones in relation to the deferment on PTPTN loan repayment.
