Mahdzir denies receiving RM1m allowance as TNB chair

However, he did not disclose his salary as the head of the national energy company.
Earlier, Akmal Nasir (Harapan-Johor Bahru) claimed in the Dewan Rakyat that there were at least 50 GLC political appointees receiving an average salary of RM50,000 per month, not including allowances, which would cost the government RM25 million per year.
Responding to this, Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (BN-Pasir Salak) revealed that his salary as Prasarana chairperson is "only RM8,000".
"This is a dire and mean accusation," Tajuddin said in the opening of his King's address debate speech, right after Akmal ended his.
"I am the Prasarana chairperson. Do you know who I am?
"We are very transparent, (my salary is) RM8,000 only, RM8,000 only," he said.
Tajuddin (below) said UDA chairperson Jalaluddin Alias (BN-Jelebu) also draws only RM8,000, meaning that Akmal's assessment was wrong.
"You got it wrong for two of us. Maybe (your estimate) is wrong for many others," he added.
In May, a leaked audio recording purportedly had a man whose voice resembled Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, reveal plans to lure Umno MPs to join Bersatu by offering ministerships or GLC posts.
"If they know a new government is being formed, with Umno in, 'Why don't you (Umno MPs) join in now’... especially if there are positions. If not a minister, then chairperson of a GLC," the man had said.
The recording is said to have been made during the Bersatu supreme council meeting on Feb 23, after which Muhyiddin took the party out of Pakatan Harapan to form the Perikatan Nasional government.
