Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rina Harun has won the position of Bersatu's women wing chief uncontested after all three of her rivals were sacked.

Bersatu election committee chairperson Syed Hamid Albar, in a statement tonight, confirmed Rina is officially the head of the women wing which calls itself "Srikandi Malaysia".

Rina previously faced Kepala Batas Bersatu chief Azlina Mehtab Mohd Ishaq, Srikandi deputy information chief Izza Ismail and Kuala Langat Srikandi chief Zuhuraina Makmur as contenders.

However, Bersatu on Saturday (Aug 15) published a notice in newspapers announcing that the memberships of 282 party members, including Rina's three contenders, have been voided.

Meanwhile, Deputy Entrepreneur Development And Cooperatives Minister Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, who defected from Umno to Bersatu, is Rina's new deputy in the wing.

Syed Hamid said a total of 11,609 delegates from 165 divisions voted in the party's inaugural election for the 2019-2022 term. Three more divisions did not meet due to a lack of quorum.
