Lokman Adam arrested, probed for criminal intimidation against PM

Former Umno supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam has been remanded for a day to facilitate a probe into criminal intimidation against the prime minister.
In a statement, Bukit Aman CID director Huzir Mohamed said the investigation followed a police report against him for uploading a video via Facebook which had the elements of intimidating and using explicit words against the leadership of the prime minister.
The police picked him up while he was broadcasting a talk about Budget 2021 via Facebook live on his Facebook page at a restaurant yesterday.
Harian Metro reported that Lokman was in his restaurant located near the Putra World Trade Centre around 11pm.
Towards the end of the 28-minute video, Lokman was seen looking off the camera and said that several police officers had come for him.
"Tonight several police officers are here for me. I don't know what they want. I think enough for tonight, I don't want to keep them waiting for too long," he was heard saying.
Later, in a separate post, Lokman publicly asked for a lawyer to be sent to the Classified Unit Investigation Department at Bukit Aman police headquarters and contact one Inspector Nasir.
"I have been detained under Section 506," he posted.
Section 506 deals with criminal intimidation.
Huzir (above) said Lokman was also being probed under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for insulting behaviour.
The police seized his gadget believed to have been used to upload the said video.
This is not the first time Lokman has been probed by the police.
In October last year, Lokman, who is known to be a staunch supporter of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, was charged with inciting or likely to incite the public to commit any offence against any other class or community at the Magistrate's Court in Shah Alam.
In February this year, he was sacked from Umno after he purportedly released an audio recording that depicted Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's apparent attempt to persuade party leaders to team up with then prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Under the previous BN government, Lokman was a communications director at the Finance Ministry.
