Najib’s RM2.28b 1MDB trial put off yet again due to CMCO

Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak’s RM2.28 billion 1MDB corruption trial has been vacated this week due to the extension of the conditional movement control order (MCO) in Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur until early December.
Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Akram Gharib confirmed this when contacted by Malaysiakini this morning.
“Yes, confirmed,” he replied on whether the Kuala Lumpur High Court has vacated the trial dates initially scheduled for today until Thursday this week.
He added that the High Court has fixed Dec 14 to 17 for the resumption of the trial.
On Oct 19, it was reported that today until Thursday this week was initially set for the resumption of the trial due to the then-ongoing conditional MCO in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya.
The initially scheduled trial on Oct 19 was then postponed to today.
However, on Nov 7, it was reported that the conditional MCO in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya is further extended from Nov 9 until Dec 6.
Najib is on trial over four counts of abuse of power and 21 counts of money laundering involving RM2.28 billion of 1MDB's funds.
