The prisoner who brutally murdered convicted paedophile Richard Huckle has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
Huckle had been serving his 22 concurrent life sentences at HM Full Sutton Prison in Yorkshire, England for sexually abusing up to 200 infants and children in Malaysia when he was killed in Oct 2019.
The BBC reported yesterday that inmate Paul Fitzgerald, who is already serving time for violent and sexual offences, will serve at least 34 years in jail for the crime.
Hull Crown Court Justice Lavender was quoted as calling Fitzgerald a “psychopath” who wanted to rape and even eat Huckle as an act of “poetic justice”.
"You are a psychopath and you derive pleasure from fantasising about raping, torturing, killing, and even eating others.
"You intended to rape and kill Mr Huckle and, if possible, cook parts of him and eat them. You did this for your own pleasure and also to inflict what you called poetic justice on a convicted paedophile,” the judge said.
Huckle, 33, had abused children between 2006 and 2014 when he posed as a photographer and teacher to volunteer at charities and churches in Kuala Lumpur.
Some of his victims were from underprivileged communities.
He was arrested in 2014 at London’s Gatwick Airport after Australian authorities discovered his paedophilic activities on the dark web.
Fitzgerald was reported to have strangled Huckle in his cell, tortured him, stabbed a pen into his brain and raped him.
The 30-year-old was said to suffer from psychopathy, antisocial personality disorder and gender identity disorder.
