Members of parliament will now be able read online news malaysiakini's stories in full for free.

The Parliament library is one of the first few institutions to sign up for malaysiakini's new 'institutional' subscription.

As an institutional subscriber, any person using a computer in the Parliament network will be able to read malaysiakini in full simply by clicking on the "I" button on the website's homepage.

"We are happy that parliamentarians can now read malaysiakini while they are at work in Parliament," said malaysiakini CEO Premesh Chandran ( photo: below, far right ).

"We hope that they will take the issues highlighted by the website seriously, and as representatives of the people, give voice to their legitimate concerns."

Service rolled out early August

Malaysiakini's institutional subscription package was rolled out early this month.

It is targeted at large organisations and public libraries, where distributing a common username and password is inpractical.

For institutional subscribers, no username and password are required.
