Celebrity Afdlin Shauki has chosen PKR as his political platform.

The comedian said he was inspired to join the party by PKR president Anwar Ibrahim's resolve in his political career while being magnanimous to his rivals.

"Anwar's magnanimous attitude in forgiving and accepting those who kicked him to jail opened my eyes and mind.

"He is never tired in his fight, so dedicated and committed to looking after the people despite the struggle he and his family had faced.

"It didn't take long for me to join PKR after seeing his value," Afdlin was reported as saying by Astro Awani.

Afdlin, a former Umno member, lauded Anwar as a Malay leader and PKR for looking after the people's welfare regardless of race.

"PKR is a party which looks after all races, although its president is Malay. This is the platform that I want.

"A Malay leader who doesn't neglect the welfare of other races.

"As a Malaysian, the country needs leaders like Anwar," Afdlin said.

Singer Altimet

Meanwhile, another celebrity, Altimet has been speculated to join PKR.

Afdlin, in a Facebook post yesterday, said that he and Altimet will share the stage with Anwar and Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari at Flamingo Hotel Ampang tomorrow.

Previously, Afdlin's friend and fellow entertainer, Hans Isaac, was speculated to contest in the Ampang parliamentary constituency in the 15th general election.

Responding to the speculation, Hans said it was up to the party to decide on his candidacy while he continues to focus on the social programme for Ampang folk through his team known as "Kita Budak Ampang."
