Nation cries for a judicial cleansing

In searching for what is right, we must transcend whatever loyalties we may hold, be it personal or political. The injury and wrong done must be seen for what it is, for without this cleansing there will be no progress.

I cannot but feel for Salleh Abas. Executive arrogance has marred the judicial career of many eminent judges in our land. We owe them an independent closure on this issue.

What is right must prevail over the actors and personalities involved. The personalities behind the scene may help us objectively evaluate the motives that led to this dark chapter in our legal history. More importantly, it must signal a strengthening of our democracy and our constitution by stressing that the executive holds no blank cheque nor can it exercise its power without this being called to question even at a later date.
