Former Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) commissioner Mehrun Siraj passed away peacefully early this morning at her home in Petaling Jaya. She was 75.

Born on July 19, 1945, the wife of former Malaysian Bar president Sulaiman Abdullah had been suffering from a number of serious medical conditions and spent the last year with multiple long admissions in hospital, with her condition declining, said her son playwright and National University of Singapore associate professor Huzir Sulaiman.
