Malaysian junior badminton player Siti Nurshuhaini Azman is excited about making her first appearance in the Uber Cup championship this Saturday in Aarhus, Denmark, and is determined to rake in some points for the national squad.

The 17-year-old said if she was really given the chance to compete in the premier women’s team event, she would be ready to take on the responsibility as best as possible.

“I am very excited to play in the Uber Cup because it is the main team championship. I feel so charged and ready to bring home some points for the national squad,” she said in a video from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) today.

Siti Nurshuhaini, who was supposed to leave the capital with the remaining members of the national squad, was not allowed to depart at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) as she had not completed her vaccination.

She will, however, be allowed to leave today.

The Malaysian team, who are drawn to be in Group D, will open their campaign against hosts Denmark this Saturday, followed by matches against China (Sunday) and Canada (Monday).

Only the top two teams will advance to the quarter-finals.
