Patronage politics: Pak Lah as guilty as Dr M

comments     Published     Updated

It is the Umno patronage system which will kill Malaysia as it becomes less and less competitive, and more and more expensive in doing business.

On RM600 mil bonus: Discrimination against Sarawak

MSY: This is clearly a pre-election sweetener so that Umno leaders can feed their supporters to ensure the party continues to receive support in the next general election. This is not going to matter so much in Sarawak since they've had their state election and the incumbents have already won.

It's all down to money politics and Pak Lah is as guilty of this as his predecessor. Such is the system in Malaysia and this very patronage system will kill Malaysia as it becomes less and less competitive, and more and more expensive in doing business.

The government is killing productivity with this patronage system and we shall look back at our history books in regret if we don't remove the BN leadership.

On RM200 mil campaign to attract tourists

Roshan: Today's NST online has a picture of a rundown bus-stop and the short write-up declares that with Visit Malaysia 2007 coming, such things should be immediately addressed. I've been hearing/reading a bit about how the many drawbacks and embarrassments (such as horrible/dirty

toilets, bad roads, etc) must be 'rectified' before the country is 'flooded' by visitors next year.

My question is, why does it take impending visits by foreigners to encourage those responsible for such things - be they the municipalities, government, corporations or just plain citizens - to act? Why can't things be in good working order for just us living in Malaysia - any time, any year.

On Thousands expected at anti-toll hike demo

Protester: I'm very fed-up with the toll increases. It's getting into our nerves. The next election will surely be for the opposition.

On SPECIAL REPORT: Sabah's Project M

Yee: Pak Lah must do what is right and investigate Project 'M'. Those responsible must be punished. Again, there seems to be a lack of will in doing what is right. God Almighty will punish those who protect and approve such alleged wrongdoing. The state of Sabah has been compromised and given away to foreigners and the BN government has condoned it. If BN does not right this terrible wrong, then they deserve to be booted out of Sabah forever!

On Dr M-Soros reconcile, but questions remain

YSM: To me, the real question is whether Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi, who is the head of the Barisan Nasional, wants to do what is right by bringing to justice those who have robbed, pilfered and squandered the nation's wealth.

If he does nothing to punish those who have pocketed public funds and taken it out of the country or to punish those who dabbled in foreign currency trade bringing the country down into recession, then he is endorsing this kind of behaviour.

He says he is waiting for evidence and it is not easy to catch them. Just dig up the old files, bring to justice those who have pilfered and show the nation that he is serious about corruption and graft, and I am sure the culture of fear will supersede the culture of patronage and graft.

Mengenai Kampung Berembang kecoh...
