With reports of a wide electricity outage affecting parts of Peninsular Malaysia today, many citizens have shared their anecdotes of being stuck without electricity.
A lady, who preferred to be referred to as Fong, informed Malaysiakini about how she was stuck in a lift in Sunway Velocity.
Fong, who works in the film distribution industry, said that it was her first time being trapped in a lift.
“I had to jump out between floors to get off, and it was a scary experience,” she said.
Meanwhile, the lack of working traffic lights did not stop road users from expertly handling road traffic as shown in a tweet from user @TFlaneur.
The video showed cars going through crossroads in Klang Valley and avoiding any form of collision.
“Feels like Malaysians are not that bad without traffic lights,” said the user.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) had earlier said on its Facebook page that the power outage has caused traffic lights around KL to not work and experience malfunctions.
Additionally, traffic lights at Mines Convention Centre were also not working due to the power outage.
A road user sent in a video showing how cars were all stuck in a traffic jam due to the lights not working.
KLIA blackout
Additionally, KLIA was also affected by the power outage as it was reported this morning that the airport was experiencing a blackout.

A Twitter user, @vmal_05, could not help but draw ire at KLIA not having electricity.
“KLIA has its own power generation plant by the way, not (a) TNB grid,” said the tweet.
Malaysia Airports also released a statement on Twitter apologising for the power outage.
“Our engineering team is communicating closely with TNB to resolve the matter.
“In the meantime, we hope you remain calm and patient,” said the tweet.
Meanwhile, Selangor Fire Department released a list of locations where people were stuck in lifts.
Among these locations include Jaya One, Icon City and PJ Centre Stage.
