Amanah sends memorandum to Istana Negara urging RCI on LCS
Amanah submitted a memorandum to the Istana Negara today urging for the formation of a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) to investigate the failure of the littoral combat ships’ (LCS) procurement.

“We request that an RCI is established to investigate the case of the LCS ships.
“This case has become a controversy as mentioned by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in Parliament last week.
“The report showed that RM6.08 billion had already been spent on the project but as of today none of the ships have arrived,” Sany told reporters after handing over the memorandum.
The handover of the memorandum took place at 11am outside of Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur.
It was handed to Istana Negara’s head of corporate communications Muzli Mohd Zin.
Sany, a former Amanah youth chief, professed his worry that the fiasco surrounding the LCS has caused panic in the rakyat.
"This for sure has worried and panicked the rakyat as it involves the country's peacefulness and defence.
"The government used the rakyat's money and involved the royal institution in this issue.
"Hence, we hope that the RCI is set up so that this issue is investigated in a fair manner and so the money that was spent is not gone just like that," said Sany.
Amanah was not the first party to hand in a memorandum requesting an RCI to investigate the missing LCS, as Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan also handed in a memorandum to the Agong yesterday afternoon.
This comes after the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) tabled its report last week on the procurement of the LCS to the Dewan Rakyat, which highlighted numerous irregularities with the project.
The project was approved in 2011. At the time, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was the defence minister while Najib Abdul Razak was both prime minister and finance minister.
