SK Kempadang shortlisted as Top 3 finalists in global school competition
A Malaysian Trust School has been named among the Top 3 finalists in the Innovation category for the new US$250,000 (RM1,149,500.00) World’s Best School Prizes.
Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kempadang, a primary school in Kuantan which caters predominantly to B40 pupils has created a fully automated tracking system that follows students’ progress.
Their digital solution, Smartzoom, tracks the pupils’ progress in real-time.
Developed during the pandemic, the system enables teachers to devise data-driven interventions, customised for the specific needs of their pupils.
This has helped the children in what was once a small fishing village.
Each pupil’s progress is visible to all, and the school also worked in partnership with parents to ensure no child is left behind.
Khazanah Nasional Berhad, Yayasan Hasanah, Yayasan Pahang, Yayasan AMIR and LeapEd conveyed their heartiest congratulations to SK Kempadang in Kuantan, Pahang, for its achievements.
In a joint media statement, the organisations said they were inspired by SK Kempadang’s resilience in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic
“The dedication to overcome their challenges, their innovative use of technology, and the collective effort of the entire Kg Kempadang community have made a real difference in the lives of their pupils.
“We have all cast our votes on for SK Kempadang and are now undertaking a call for action for all Malaysians to support SK Kempadang’s hopes.
“We hope to share the Smartzoom digital innovation to schools across Malaysia in an effort to transform education.”
