DAP’s Klang MP Charles Santiago says he has no plans to vacate the seat he has held for three terms just yet.

This is amid speculation that Seri Kembangan state assemblyperson Ean Yong Hian Wah was eyeing the seat.

The purported seat swap plan was reported by The Star yesterday, citing sources.

Charles (above) said he has not read the article yet but promised he would do so after he gets more important work out of the way.

“I have urgent meetings to attend to plan for emergency response and aid distributions in the event of another flooding during this monsoon season. And that includes a flood preparedness briefing in the first week of October.

“For the record, I do not intend to vacate my seat just yet. I promise to read the article in full and respond once we have finalised our flood mitigation plans.

“This is my focus right now, as floods have huge consequences on peoples’ lives and livelihoods,” he said in a Facebook post today.

The lawmaker said he had been receiving many messages of support since The Star article came out.

The article alleges that Ean Yong has the backing of 28 DAP branches in Selangor to take over Klang.

The plan is reportedly to move Charles to the Bandar Baru Klang state seat, to take over from retiring incumbent Teng Chang Kim.
