Selangor MB Amirudin to take on Azmin in Gombak, others dropped

Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari will be taking on Bersatu supreme council member Azmin Ali - who left PKR in 2020 - in the latter’s parliamentary seat of Gombak.

This was revealed tonight in front of a crowd of roughly 3,000 people during a PKR event at Padang MPAJ, in Ampang, Selangor.

The announcement also saw incumbent MP Maria Chin Abdullah being dropped from her Petaling Jaya seat for Semambu state assemblyperson Lee Chean Chung.

Other big names who were dropped include incumbent Sungai Buloh MP R Sivarasa who gives way to PKR deputy information chief R Ramanan.

Wangsa Maju MP Tan Yee Kew, Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul, and Alor Setar MP Chan Ming Kai have also been dropped.

PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli told the media: “It’s a deliberation at the committee level and the final decision was done after discussion with (party president) Anwar Ibrahim.

“We have gone through the correct process and it’s a party decision,” he said.

Batu Tiga state assemblyperson Rodziah Ismail will be facing former PKR veteran now Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) leader Zuraida Kamaruddin in Ampang.

Incumbent MPs who have been retained to defend their seats include Fahmi Fadzil (Lembah Pantai), William Leong (Selayang), Wong Chen (Subang), P Prabakaran (Batu), Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (Setiawanga), Fuziah Salleh (Kuantan), Nurul Izzah Anwar (Permatang Pauh), and Chang Lih Kang (Tanjong Malim),

In another big announcement, PKR vice-president and incumbent Hang Tuah Jaya MP Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin was moved to Bagan Datuk where he can be expected to take on Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun has been tasked with contesting in Port Dickson - which was previously won by Pakatan Harapan chairperson Anwar Ibrahim.
