Penang MCA candidate gets down on his knees for votes

GE15 | With the odds stacked against MCA and its candidates, some of them have appeared to resort to begging for votes.

Before MCA’s Bagan candidate Tan Chuan Hong began his speech tonight, he went on his knees while on stage.

“Good day everyone. Today I am going down on my knees… can you vote for BN?” he said.

Tan is challenging DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng in a four-cornered fight for the Bagan parliamentary seat in Penang.

BN held a ‘mega ceramah’ in Seberang Perai tonight which saw about 250 people attend, but the crowd gradually grew thinner as the event went on.

By the time MCA vice president Tan Teik Cheng spoke at 10pm, only half the audience remained.

In contrast, more than 500 people attend the DAP ceramah just a two-minute walk away from the BN event.

Tan is not the first MCA candidate to beg for votes during the 15th general election.

According to media reports, the party’s Indera Mahkota candidate Quek Tai Seong made a tearful plea for Pahang voters’ support.

“I beg you, please vote for BN candidates, I don’t want to lose again!” he said on Tuesday.
