PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin has run out of issues for his election campaign by claiming Pakatan Harapan is a “Jewish agent”, said Anwar Ibrahim.

The Harapan prime minister-designate reiterated he fights for the interest of all Malaysians, irrespective of their racial background.

"Muhyiddin said Christians and Jews have already infiltrated (the country). Has he run out of real issues to talk about? (He spoke about) communists, Christians, and Jews. But if they (leaders) rob, then there's no problem.

"I want to answer (his accusation), I am not defensive, I am not apologetic. If you want me to lead this country, I will defend the Malays, Chinese, Indians, and the rights of Sabah and Sarawak,” Anwar (above, left) was reported as saying by Astro Awani at a ceramah in Bandar Tun Razak yesterday.

Anwar added that Muhyiddin had "lost his legitimacy in the bid for prime ministership" due to his unimpressive attendance record in Parliament and failure to disclose his assets during the election campaign.

"How do you choose a leader without knowing if he is involved in corruption or not? If he does not dare to declare his assets, simply don't support him.

"Muhyiddin said he has sent Bersatu's financial report to the Registrar of Societies (ROS). What does this have to do with it (asset declaration)?" he asked.

In a ceramah on Nov 16, Muhyiddin alleged that Harapan was an “agent of Jews and Christians”, who were out to colonise Malaysia.

He also claimed that a group of Jews and Christians were plotting for Malaysia to be ruled by their proxy - Harapan.

"To me, this is dangerous. Does it mean there will be a 'Christianisation’ process? We have heard stories before, haven't we?

"In Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya, there are Malays attending church on Sundays. They have become Christians.

"I don’t think (there are that many) because most of us are Muslims. However, their agenda and intent are to turn Malaysia into their colony," claimed Muhyiddin.

The former premier later came under fire for his remark, as the Council of Churches of Malaysia (CCM) urged the authorities to take action to prevent such statements from being repeated.

‘Muhyiddin embracing PAS’ extremism’

Meanwhile, DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng said hate speech is never the solution to addressing the people’s problems which include low wages, high cost of living and lack of equal opportunity.

"PAS leaders led by its president Abdul Hadi Awang have been identified by the Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ) as one of the main amplifiers of ‘divisive, racist, intolerant and hate-based’ narratives.

"CIJ disclosed that PAS has resorted to scaring Muslim voters with phrases like 'going to hell if you vote Harapan and BN', and inciting violence against 'kafir harbi' (enemies of Islam), and for calling Malays to unite and fight against the Chinese (DAP) and Indians during the campaigning period.

"Hadi and PAS have also resorted to 'red-tagging' in recent weeks, with the continued accusation of DAP being communists as we are allegedly atheist and promote LGBT practices," he said in a statement today.

DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng

Lim added that Muhyiddin yesterday had embraced PAS’ racist and extremist narrative by attempting to strike fear amongst Muslim voters of an alleged Jewish and Christian conspiracy.

"The elections tomorrow will see PN and BN weaponising fear by using hate speech in an attempt to counter Harapan’s promise of a better future," he said.

Lim, however, said the people are more focused on improving the economy for a better living.

"The people want their government to respect the Federal Constitution and the people. They want Putrajaya to encourage the rakyat to respect each other in order to unite the nation and create a harmonious society.

"Only by preserving freedom can we enjoy equal opportunity. Only by establishing justice, can we live in dignity.

“And only by pursuing good and clean governance can we enjoy prosperity," he stressed.
