Cops question PN's Azman over 'adulterous govt' remark

Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) Padang Serai candidate Azman Nasrudin said he had his statement taken by the police at the Kulim Hi-Tech police station over his “adulterous administration” remark.

However, the Kedah state exco dismissed arguments that his comment against the Pakatan Harapan-BN government was an insult to the monarchy.

“I was referring to the reluctance of the Umno grassroots, that’s what I was talking about.

“I was a bit rude that night because the new government was just formed and we see these Umno leaders willing to sell out on Umno’s struggle so easily. So that’s what I meant when I said (the ‘adulterous administration’ remark).

“I already gave a statement to the police last night,” Azman told reporters when met at his campaign programme in Kampung Nesa, Padang Serai today.

Azman was earlier reported to have described the unity government led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim as an “adulterous administration”.

BN’s Padang Serai candidate C Sivarraajh later described Azman’s statement as arrogant and insulting towards the monarchy and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

It is understood that Harapan leaders have lodged a police report against Azman over the remarks.

Azman insisted that his comment was not meant to be an insult to the royal institution.

“We in PN also comply with the decision made by the Agong.

“I was just referring to the resolution that Umno itself made and then later went against (by joining a government formed by Anwar).

“So Umno members at the grassroots level are disappointed and angry,” Azman stated.
