New Straits Times frontpaged the cancellation of the Malaysian tour by the English Premier League champion Manchester United despite approval from the cabinet. The club, which was to play a friendly match with Malaysian team, said that it cannot play without the official green light from the Asian Football Council.

The Star lead with the news that all national service camps will have at least three medical assistants and two nurses to ensure that trainees have access to medical attention always. The second lead is on PKR leader S Nallakaruppan, who said he was betrayed by party adviser Anwar Ibrahim, and wanted to quit the party. This news was first reported in malaysiakini .

The Sun headlined the slashing of up to 50 percent in airport taxes for low-cost terminals in Kuala Lumpur International Airport and the Kota Kinabalu airport.

Utusan Malaysia frontpaged the burst pipe in the spanking new Jalan Duta court complex in Kuala Lumpur which flooded the cafetaria with the headlines ' Bocor lagi ' (Burst again).

Berita Harian led with the news that 107,688 civil servants are to enjoy additional rewards as their incentive payments will automatically rise along with the pay hike announced on Monday. The second lead for the newspaper was the burst pipe in Jalan Duta court complex.

Chinese newspapers

Sin Chew Daily lead with police chief Musa Hassan's warning he would not tolerate corruption in the force after the big increment of salary. He said that errant cops will be charged in court.

Nanyang Siang Pau reported that the Kuala Lumpur police have busted one of the biggest counterfeit money syndicates in the Klang Valley, with 29 Africans arrested and millions of ringgit in counterfeit money seized.

Oriental Daily featured the burst pipe in the Jalan Duta court complex with frontpage photo depicting workers mopping the flooded cafeteria.

Tamil papers

Malaysia Nanban led with a crime story in Johor Baru - of how a hair saloon owner was beaten to death in an early morning robbery on Tuesday. The paper also said that three Indian nationals were arrested in relation to this case.

Makkal Osai 's main report was the warning by the IGP to his men-in-blue to not to dwell in corruption following a good pay rise for them.

New Straits Times said that more should be done to protect the environment beyond the government's recently launched RM7 million environmental awareness campaign on television. This requires all of Malaysians to play their part.

Bahasa newspapers

Berita Harian said that the Public Works Department should not give excuses but sort out its work system involving the maintenance of government buildings, especially in light of the burst pipe in the Jalan Duta court complex.

Utusan Malaysia urged pensioners who received hefty increase in their pension along with the pay hike for civil servants to make good use of their retirement money.

Chinese newspapers

Sin Chew Daily 's editorial commented on the PM's trip to Japan recently, which may bring new development in ties between the two nations. It said Malaysia should reduce its dependence on the Japanese economy, and look at elsewhere.

Nanyang Siang Pau opined that someone should take responsibility for the defects in government buildings. It also ticked off Works Minister S Samy Vellu who argued that nobody could be held responsible for the problems found in government buildings.

Oriental Daily commented on the cut in airport taxes for low-cost terminals, arguing that the quality of service should not be sacrificed as a result of the lower taxes.

Tamil newspapers

Malaysia Nanban commented that the Indian community should seek to improve it's share in the nation's economic pie. It said the share must be increased by at least three percent by 2020.

Utusan Malaysia reported that Umno Youth Khairy Jamaluddin had called on DAP leader Tony Pua to apologise for saying that the civil service is the dumping ground for unemployed Malays. Pua's comment was reported in malaysiakini yesterday. He said that the statement is an insult to the country's one million civil servants.
