David Foster concert: Siti Nurhaliza under fire from anti-Israel group

Celebrated singer Siti Nurhaliza has come into the crosshairs of an anti-Israel group today as she is scheduled to perform in a concert organised by a known staunch supporter of the Zionist regime.

The Malaysian chapter of the global Boycott, Divest, Sanction (BDS) movement said it was "very disappointing" that Siti Nurhaliza decided to participate in the “Hitman Returns – David Foster and Friends” concert in Jakarta tonight.

In a statement, BDS Malaysia pointed out that David Foster, a world-renowned music composer, is also a strong supporter of Israel's Zionist regime and has been involved in fundraising activities for the Israeli military.

"Given the situation today where over 36,000 Palestinians have been brutally murdered by the Zionist army since Oct 7 last year and still continuing the massacre in Gaza and the West Bank, Siti Nurhaliza's decision to participate in a show organised by Foster is very disappointing," it said.

Be sensitive

The group urged that all parties including artistes be more sensitive towards the plight of the Palestinians.

"The bare minimum they could do is to boycott Israel's Zionist regime and any organisation or individual who is connected to the atrocity that is happening in Palestine," BDS Malaysia said.

Malaysiakini has reached out to Siti Nurhaliza's team to seek her comments on the matter.

According to a poster on the singer's Instagram page, Siti Nurhaliza is scheduled to perform in the concert to be held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in BSD City, Jakarta.

Other artistes that are expected to perform at the event include Brian McKnight, Jessie J and Indonesian pop and R&B singer Afgan.
