Six found dead in Bangkok hotel room in suspected poisoning

Six people - three men and three women - were found dead in a hotel room in the Ratchaprasong area in Bangkok yesterday.

The deceased were reported to be two Vietnamese Americans and four Vietnam nationals.

In an immediate response, Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said he had instructed police chief Torsak Sukvimol to urgently and thoroughly investigate the case and to take control of the situation to ensure no adverse impact or danger to the public and tourists.

Speaking to the media at the scene last night, Srettha said the bodies were discovered at 4.30pm.

He said initial findings by the police indicate that the deceased had died in less than 24 hours from suspected poisoning as there were no signs of trauma or robbery.

Srettha, who Torsak accompanied, said he had also briefed Vietnam ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung on the case.

The police are investigating the incident by viewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses to determine the cause of death.
